Classes

Beginner through advanced level dance classes are offered for ages 2 to adult in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Tumbling. Pre-school classes are educational and developmentally appropriate. The study of ballet is encouraged as a basic foundation for all other forms of dance.

At the Cindy Ory Dance Studio, we take the age of the child into consideration when choosing music and choreography. Our music is always age appropriate and tasteful. Our choreography is the latest style, yet is still acceptable for public viewing.


Mommy & Me

A fun and safe introduction into the world of dance. Promotes creativity, body awareness and rhythm. Beginning French terminology is included in the curriculum. Parent and child (Dads are welcome too!) experience wonderful quality time together. Must be accompanied by parent.

Ballet & Tap

BALLET – A basic foundation for all forms of dance. Ballet teaches form and technique, builds strength and develops poise and grace. Class consists of a classical ballet barre warm-up and center work, concentrating on individual ballet movements, positions, turns and terminology.

TAP – A series of rhythmical movements of the feet. Tap dancing entertains the auditory as well as the visual senses. Class starts with a complete warm-up for tap leading to tap steps, time steps, turns and tap combinations.

Jazz

A blend of music, dance and many cultural traditions. Jazz dance is truly an American art form. Class includes a jazz isolation warm-up, progressions and center / floor work leading to combinations and routines.

Pointe

An intricate part of ballet that requires a pointe shoe with a toe platform to support and protect the foot of the dancer. Students must be a minimum of 10 years of age and have sufficient strength in the feet, ankles and legs before advancing to pointe work.

Contemporary

A fluid style of jazz dance, blending movements of classical ballet, American modern dance and ethnic dance forms. The choreographic expression of the performer interprets the lyrics of the music. Class begins with a barre stretch and warm-ups, then focuses on technique and expression.

Hip Hop

This high energy style of dance encompasses body movements that have elements of popping, locking and breaking as well as freestyle movements. Hip Hop brings together the culture of street dancing and the technical training of dance. This unique style of dance utilizes the beats and rhythms of the music. Age appropriate choreography and music will always be a priority.

Tumbling

The artistic use of acrobatic movements and tricks which develops strength, flexibility and body control.
